HOTEL VMG VILLA KYOTO

SUMMARY

The owner of the building at the time was an Osaka businessman and Enshu-style tea master named Uno Goichi, whose name is inscribed on the building's ridgepole plaque and on records of tea ceremonies from over 100 years ago.

The architect (=carpenter) was Yoshiwara Chojiro, who also worked on the Gion teahouse "Fumiyo." He is said to have been involved in the construction of many teahouses in the Gion area.

The imperial culture of the Heian period is also the root of the Enshu style that Kobori Enshu aimed for. We incorporated this history into the concept of the room ceremony and created a new interior.
